Rodney L. Smith is a principal in the law firm of Smith, Pappas & Jones, Ltd. Mr. Smith was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1991 and in Minnesota in 1995. He is admitted to practice in the United States Central and Southern Districts of Illinois, and in the United States Seventh Circuit.

Joseph S. Pappas, JD, is an associate attorney at the law firm of Smith, Pappas & Jones, Ltd. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois, as well as the Central and Southern Federal Districts of Illinois.
Mr. Pappas attended Central Michigan University where he studied International Business and Spanish and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2010; later he attended Southern Illinois University: School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor in 2015.
He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Secretary-Treasurer of the Coles/Cumberland Bar Association, and Advocate of Knights of Columbus Council 860 in Paris, Illinois.
Mr. Pappas concentrates his practice on bankruptcy, probate, and business-related matters, along with personal injury cases.
Dan Jones is a native of Villa Grove, Illinois. After earning his B.A. in History from the University of Illinois in 1990, Dan attended the Southern Illinois University School of Law, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1993.
Dan knew from an early age that he wanted to go to law school, become an attorney, and help those who need assistance in times of trouble. As someone who has always wanted to help those that have been injured, whether on the job or out in the community, Dan focuses his practice on workers’ compensation and personal injury law.
Community Involvement
Dan has lived in east-central Illinois his entire life and has always felt a desire to further the development of his community. He has been a member of the Coles County Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Mattoon Foundation for Academic Excellence Board of Directors, the Coles County Historical Society Board of Directors, and the Injury Board Day of Action. He currently serves as the City Attorney for his hometown of Mattoon, Illinois.
Dan lives in Mattoon. Outside of the office, you can find Dan attending sporting events for his beloved University of Illinois Fighting Illini, attending movies, and reading.
